Maryland Science Center to Host Programs for Homeschooled Students! Registration Now Open for Sept!

Registration is now open for the Maryland Science Center’s September homeschool programs! Experts in the Maryland Science Center’s education department have created more than 40 hands-on science lessons in physics, chemistry and biology that will enhance the educational experience for homeschoolers ages 2-18. Homeschool programs run Tuesday through Friday from September 11 to 28, 2012.

All Maryland Science Center homeschool programs put students in a fun-filled atmosphere packed with hypotheses, experiments and discoveries. For example, preschool-aged students can meet cuddly (and not-so cuddly) creatures in Critter Encounters, and look, touch, smell, hear and even taste science in My Sensational Senses. Older students can get started in electrical engineering in Circuits Challenge, and can translate genetic codes in DNA Discovery. Those prepping for college can get an inside look at mammals in Mouse Dissection and find out why E=MC squared in Einstein’s Spacetime.

Programs for homeschool students are offered Tuesday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Admission to the Maryland Science Center’s exhibits is included with advance registration. Students can register for activities upon arrival but classes fill up fast, and advance registration is recommended.

Admission for homeschool visitors who only wish to explore the Maryland Science Center’s exhibits is $2 from September 11 through 28.

More information on programs, as well as answers to frequently asked questions can be found on the homeschoolers section of the Maryland Science Center website at http://mdsci.org/programs/Homeschoolers/Main.html

To register, please call 410-545-5945 Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
